Finasteride did not work in the past, will dutasteride work?

Finasteride is classified as an anti-androgen medication and works by inhibiting the type II 5 alpha-reductase which stops the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in follicles. It works for 9/10 men, however, in the 10% of patients where it may not be effective for these patients, we may consider prescribing topical Dutasteride.
